Cake Pops: A semi detailed how to.

After searching for ideas for the baby shower I stumbled upon a picture of the most adorable little cupcakes on a stick.  Thought they were adorable and really thought no more of it.  Then one day I’m in Barnes and Noble with the kiddos and see this book:

That settled it.  I had to include these uber adorable pops in the shower.

Let me just preface this by saying they take a ton of time.  Maybe it was just because it was my first time.  The time factor definitely won’t deter me from trying them again in the future.  Also, I don’t like most cakes, so I was simply making these for their cute factor.  It definitely helped that everyone at the party that does like cake LOVED them.  Apparently they not only are adorable but taste great as well. 

So, step 1:

Bake a sheet cake and then crumble it into tiny pieces.

Step 2:

Add 3/4 jar of icing, mix.  Then roll into balls.  Refrigerate for several hours.

Step 4: Roll into cylinders and use flower shaped cookie cutter to cut off the bottom of the pop.  This will form them into the cupcake shape.  Or a mushroom shape.  Freeze for 10 minutes.  If you are just going to make cake balls (without the cupcake shape) you can skip this step and proceed to Step 5.

Step 5: Dip the bottom half in the chocolate candy coating.  Place a lollipop stick 3/4 of the way into the pop.

Step 6: Dip the top half in candy coating and decorate.  Done!
