Homemade Biscotti

This year when I saw the call to bakers to help out in the project, “Desserts for the Deserving” I knew I immediately wanted to participate.  For the second year I Am Baker did a call for people to nominate someone they know that deserves a random act of baked good kindness.  All nominees are welcome- whether they’re going through a rough time, are always putting others first or just need a pick-me-up.  Then all 170+ nominees are matched up with someone who is willing to bake and mail them a treat.

Well, this year I got matched up with someone in the UK, so all dreams of cake pops or cookies dripping in chocolate immediately were shot down.  No way can I mail any kind of treat like that across the pond without it getting completely destroyed in transit.  So I decided to try making biscotti for the very first time.

I used this recipe, and I have to say: I think I did a pretty darn good job.  I sampled a piece before mailing it out and I gotta give myself a little props.  I made biscotti.  Bam.

The biscotti itself was fairly easy to make.  It was the whole sending it out and getting it through customs part that’s another story.

Looks delicious! Can you bring some to the beach?? Ha ha!

  2. Hi Joan,

I was the grateful recipient! I was so excited to pick this up at the post office as I had no idea what it was going to be! I saw ‘cookies’ on the label and was like “what???” But they were fab and I love the way it was all packaged. I loved the cute card too and thought it was such a great treat – the whole parcel and the idea. Thanks to my lil sis too for nominating me!

    Thanks again,
    Mel x

  3. You are the best. This is such a great treat! Thank you SO much!
