Week 24

Twenty four weeks is considered a fairly exciting pregnancy milestone.  It’s generally considered the point of viability- that if the baby were to be delivered she would have a great chance at survival.

While I’m nowhere near ready for baby to make her way into the world, it’s still exciting to reach this milestone.  Twenty four weeks down, sixteen to go.  I figured I’d celebrate with an update:

How I’m feeling: By far the most asked question.  I don’t really have an exciting response, except that I’m still feeling great.  I know I’ve been so blessed during this pregnancy, and for that I am thankful.

Baby name: Probably the second most common question.  And yet another one without a good answer.  We are nowhere close to having a name, and probably won’t decide on one until we meet baby girl.  I know she’ll have a name by the time we leave the hospital, so I’m not worried.  Yet.

Weight gain: A whopping 3.5 pounds.  After losing weight in the first trimester, I’ve finally gained it back plus an additional couple pounds.  Let’s hope Thanksgiving this week ups that number a lot more.

Cravings: Still none I’m willing to call “pregnancy cravings”.  I’ve wanted bread, cheese and pasta, but that’s what I’m in the mood for all the time, regardless of being pregnant.  I’d like to be able to send Jon out on at least one midnight run, but so far he’s gotten lucky.

Belly button: It’s almost completely flat at this point.  It’s pretty strange seeing it change shape.

First baby purchase: A stroller!  We wanted to take advantage of a sale that was ending today, so we spent the last week agonizing over the decision before finally pulling the trigger.  No joke, it was harder for us to decide on a stroller than it was our last car.

Maternity clothes: Still in all normal tops and wearing mostly maternity bottoms.  I can still wear my normal pants with the help of the Belly Band, but maternity pants are just so comfortable.  Don’t be jealous when you’re unbuttoning your pants at Thanksgiving and mine have a built in elastic waist band.

Movement:  Tons.  All the time.  If anyone has a recommendation for a gymnastics coach I’d love to get their number.  Baby girl is for sure going to need one.

I’m so excited that this week is Thanksgiving.  I can’t wait to spend some quality time with my family as we eat our hearts out.  Bring it on!

  1. Girl, you are going to get so worn out from the “What’s the baby’s name?” questions by the end. People get convinced that you have a name and are keeping it a secret from them. Good luck keeping your cool with that question! We didn’t have the name 100% chosen until Reed was already here for a few hours. You’ll get it figured out!!

    • haha so far people are happy with the “we don’t know yet” response, but then they want our list. Which doesn’t really exist either. I can only imagine how much more frequently the question will come once we get closer!

  2. You are looking great!! Any basic colors for baby girl? Pink, yellow, lavender or other?? It is getting to be time for shopping, need ideas for Christmas!!
Can’t wait to see you and baby girl in New Zealand on the beach!

  3. Which stroller did you end up getting?
