I was just a couple of weeks old the first time my parents brought me to Chincoteague, VA. My family has been spending summers here since long before I was born, so it was so exciting to get to bring my own daughter this year.
Except instead of reading book after book, naps and happy hour it was a lot of sitting under the umbrella and making sure my little didn’t eat handfuls of sand.
Our pediatrician recommended that we avoid using sunscreen on Adelaide until she is 6 months old, so I found a couple long sleeve SPF 50 bathing suits that she lived in. We shuttled her straight under the umbrella and her pale skin stayed nice and white.
As I was sitting there under the umbrella, holding my baby all bundled up in a beach towel I couldn’t help but think, these are the days.
