Bookworm

the baloney bug

While in LA baby and I stumbled into a bookstore, and I think my heart might have skipped a beat.  As a kid I would spend all of my allowance buying books and I’d stay up late with a flashlight under the cover reading them.

I love reading.  My husband loves reading.  This little girl is bound to love it as well.

Currently Adelaide loves chewing on her books, but hey! she still loves them!

Here’s to many a night of me telling her to turn off the flashlight and go to sleep.

5 Months

The last five months have simultaneously flown by and crawled on.  My little girl has changed and grown so much.  At the beginning I would catch myself saying, “I can’t wait until she …” and finish the sentence with whatever her next milestone would be.

Smile, laugh, roll over.

But then I stopped and realized I can wait.  She’s only at this stage for such a short time, so I want to savor every moment.

Adelaide is seriously one of the happiest babies.  She is constantly belly laughing.  She laughs when you kiss her, when she spots Brady across the room, when you tickle her.

She’s discovered bouncing.  We got her a jumperoo, which keeps her entertained long enough for me to clean the apartment.  Or catch up on an episode of the Real Housewives.  Same thing, really.

Sometimes, when we’re out and she’s in the stroller, I can’t help but pick her up and hold her.  It’s like the two feet of distance is just too far for me to handle.

She’s still exclusively breastfed.  I figure she has the rest of her life to eat solids, so why rush them?

Happy five months, little girl.

Santa Monica Pier

the baloney bug A week after we returned from our first trip to California, we boarded another plane and headed there once again.  This time we made stops in L.A. and then drove to Vegas.  Jon had to be in both places for work, so during the day Adelaide and I explored the sights and met up with Jon in the evenings for dinner.

We wandered around outdoor shops, we met up with friends, we lounged poolside.  Yes, we can definitely get used to the California life.

Vegas, Baby

After an unintentional blog hiatus, there were supposed to be cute photos up here on the blog today, but then someone was up until all hours of the night thanks to teething and jet lag.  So instead you get this adorable photo of Adelaide in Vegas.

You’re welcome.

San Francisco

the baloney bug

Last week Jon had to be in San Francisco for work, so Adelaide and I tagged along.

My days in San Francisco were essentially identical to my days in New York- wake up, feed Adelaide, hang out a bit and then head out to walk around town.  The main difference being when I got back to our room the bed was made and everything was a tad tidier than when I left.

I can definitely get behind that.

We spent the week there and then headed to Napa for the weekend.  One lady we met along the way was all, “Oh you should take the baby to Disneyland since it’s free until she’s two” and we’re all, “Heck no, we’re going to Disneyland for adults- Napa.”

Happy Friday!

At my baby shower my godmother was so thoughtful and gave me matching outfits for Adelaide and Siena.  I thought it was so sweet of her to think of the cousins.

My mom used to dress us like our cousin, and we always tease her about how cheesy it was.  Now, here we are with our own girls in their matching outfits.

It really just doesn’t get better than this.

Family

This summer we’ve been getting to see our family more than ever, and it means so much to get to spend this time in our life with them. Last weekend we had a big picnic with the extended family, and my father in law Richard got this shot of us.  I’m so thankful he had his camera out, because I get so caught up in the moment and forget to take pictures.

We’re enjoying the last couple of days with the family before heading back to New York.  And of course enjoying grandma babysitting while mama gets a moment to herself.

Family Photos

Every year we take one night to do photos of the whole family.  Except this year we had the addition of two babies (I was 4 weeks pregnant when we went to the beach last year)!

We’re back in New York and back to reality.

But if reality is hanging out with the sweetest baby all day, then that’s just fine by me.

Ocean City

the baloney bug

During our week at the beach we took a night to go into Ocean City, MD to walk the boardwalk, eat junk food and people watch.  My sister wanted to go on the carousel, so I decided to take Adelaide as well.

I’m not gonna lie, it was a little bit terrifying.  I might have been ready for the ride to end ten seconds after it started.  Since when did carousel rides last forever??  Get me off this thing, it’s making me dizzy.

Ugh, I’m getting old.

Afterwards my sister and her husband went on the old rickety upside down roller coaster.  I promised them I’d be the very best caretaker for their daughter and kept my feet planted firmly on the ground.
